Last weekend was cold and wet, so it being Oklahoma, this weekend was hot and dry. But it was a beautiful spring morning and thanks to Randy Billington getting the birds out to the grounds early, we started right on time. The early dogs certainly had the advantage with the temps really climbing and the after lunch braces were having to really watch the dogs and spend a lot of time at water barrels. Got it done without any big problems, other than it was obvious that the big knot-headed males ran themselves right into the ground, everybody ended it safely.
As always, we would like to thank out sponsor Purina Pro Plan who sponsors so many great events for Tulsa Bird Dog Association. We’d like to also make sure and thank our judges Ellison Gilliland and Peggy Hardman. Full results can be seen here.
The puppies were a big group again with two new members, Ricky Janssen and Bruce Schuler, giving it a try. Tom Krause handling Mini, Preston Smith’s GSP, took it with a very respectable for the conditions score of 172. Mini will get a couple of sneaked treats from the girls in the office for that effort.
It was an amazing spring with all braces full and the largest group of great looking puppies in memory. So bird season is history for the TBDA, time to do a little fishing and sharpen those shooting skills at the Sunday Shoot. Who hasn’t done the’ what might have beens’ about that missed bird here and there. See ya all at the Tulsa Gun Club. Donuts on Dorn.
